I’m so glad we chose Compassionate Care. Dr. Leslie did so many little things to make sure my family was comfortable during the difficult experience of saying goodbye. She let us take it at our own pace, checking in frequently to see if we wanted more time. Our beloved dog felt no pain and passed peacefully in his favorite spot. He was suffering from cancer, and she let us know the timing we chose to say goodbye was good. This meant a lot, because we really struggled with the decision. Thank you!

What an awesome service for people who are so sad and heartbroken with their loss. My pup Zoey lived 15 years. My BFF Dr Casey Choate was absolutely amazing in a sad time for us. Thank you to her for making this heartbreaking time for us so caring.

This is a hard and important service. Dr. Stacy (I’m sorry I didn’t catch your last name) — you were so kind, both to me and to my Queenie. You explained everything so clearly and calmly. I can’t thank you enough for that most dignified and quiet release from suffering for my very sweet and dear friend.

Dr. Josie Gold came to my house and gently, lovingly, compassionately, helped my cat Otto into the Big Sleep. At every step she communicated with me about what we were doing, what would/could happen, and what to expect. She did not rush Otto or me; this ending just unfolded naturally. She even wrapped him in his scarf and then cozied him into the pillowcase we used as a shroud, arranging him so that he was in profile, one paw in front of his nose, the way he liked to sleep. I am devastated but I am so glad Josie was there. What a kind soul she has. Otto liked her even before she gave him treats. Thank you, Compassionate Care.

These people are amazing. My mom’s dog woke up yesterday and was fine, then he declined and lay around. He couldn’t get up; he was 13. My mom got a hold of Compassionate and they came out right away last night and put him down. My mom had an amazing experience with them; she will recommend them to people. She said the lady was so sweet and so helpful. Compassionate Care helped my sister put her 2 dogs down I think 8 years ago. Thank you so much, Compassionate Care. My mom is so very grateful for you guys. You made her feel at peace with her doggy. ❤

Our little Maya was ready to go be with my mother who had passed away 2 weeks prior to her transition. Jessika is not only a professional in every way, she is the most compassionate, loving human being. She has a gift with animals and their families. She came to us during one of the most challenging times of my life. I just lost my mother 2 weeks prior to Maya. We often don’t think of transition/death as a beautiful experience. However, this was indeed. We were calm, stress free and everything went extraordinarily smooth and all we felt was love and peace as she nestled against my neck as I held her in my arms. It was an experience I will never forget. Jessika was amazing in every way. And we will always be grateful for her kindness and skilled ability to help and comfort us through this difficult and challenging time of our lives. Our experience with Compassionate Care was so beautiful, meaningful and touching that I know it was the right decision to have them come into our home and help us send off our beloved Jolene. When Dr “Casey” arrived, Jolene immediately cuddled up to her. It was amazing. She puts off such a calming energy and I could see how much she put Jo at ease. She also explained everything so well and helped us understand that what we were feeling was perfectly “normal”. She never rushed and she fed Jolene little brownie bites as Jo fell into a deep sleep. I’ve never been able to have this service for any of my pets and I would never do it any other way again. I can’t recommend this company enough. Thank you so much for all you do.

We recently needed Compassionate Care to come to our home to help our beloved 15-year-old Lab, Ruger, cross the Rainbow Bridge. Paula Shover gave Ruger the absolute best care with compassion and gentleness, and made the process as painless as she could for us as well as Ruger. We will miss Ruger greatly, but want to thank Paula and Compassionate Care for helping us and Ruger in our time of loss and need.

These people are so appropriately named. We couldn’t have asked for better. I think I’m getting her name right, Paula, was over and beyond in her attention and care. We made the very stupid mistake of giving her an extra shot of morphine. Bebop got very sick and it stressed her out. Completely our fault. I wanted to mention it so people don’t make the same mistake. Follow the instructions for the medication. Paula even offered to clear up Bebop’s sick. Over and beyond. I would 100% recommend them and we will for sure use them again if need be. Thank you so much.

My family and I were so appreciative of everyone that we dealt with at Compassionate Care when we had to make the tough decision to put our 18 year old dog to sleep. Dr. Marie was the kindest, most gentle person who made the transition such a peaceful, beautiful few minutes. Cody just had a plate of snacks (his idea of heaven) and then went to sleep happy. We couldn’t have asked for nicer people to be there for a very tough life moment! Thank you from the White Family.

Thank you Josie Gold for making our sad goodbye so compassionate, peaceful, and magical. You provided so much loving care to all of the humans and pets in the house, with such ease and command. From my initial phone call, to our final goodbye, everything was perfect.

Today was one of the hardest days in our family’s life, but having Marie here to help us through it meant the world to us. She was so gentle, kind, and respectful to our dog, Winnie, and held our proverbial hand every step of the way. We are beyond grateful for her wisdom and compassion. I can’t thank Dr. Wilson enough for her amazing warmth and nurturing. I had seen the process with Compassionate Care 18 months ago when my housemate needed them for their very ill dog. When it became evident that my little Abby’s time had come, I knew without question who to call. Dr. Wilson eased us through the whole thing and helped my sweet girl leave her pain behind and peacefully cross over. My gratitude for Dr. Wilson’s care cannot be overstated. Thank you.

My family is so grateful for the amazing person who came to our home to help with our sweet kitty’s final moments. Compassionate Care is really the way to go for us, for putting my sweet Pogi to sleep. Even when making the appointment the day before, Adrienne was absolutely compassionate and answered any questions about the procedure and sympathized with our situation. Just making the appointment was already difficult, but she was absolutely kind as well and showed compassion to us when we explained our situation with Pogi. He was really suffering, and Dr. Josie was absolutely compassionate and guided us and my family every step of the way. She was not judgmental; she displayed professionalism and kindness, dignity, and felt as if she loved my Pogi as much as I do. She immediately saw his misery, and made us feel confident that we were doing the last loving thing for him. I tried for years to make my sweet Pogi comfortable, but we were in a losing battle every year. She saw his skin had turned black and his fur had fallen out, and saw him rolling on the carpet trying to get relief. She knew immediately the pain and torture he had been through with his skin and saw me and my husband so sad for his misery. We did everything we could to treat his flare-ups and allergies. This was the most difficult decision I ever had to make. Putting a beloved pet to sleep is NEVER an easy decision! They’re your family! There’s a hole in my heart left by my beloved Pogi, but he is no longer miserable. He spent his last few moments with me and my parents and my husband, munching on doggy bacon strips, and he was able to finally get 100% relief for a moment. I was able to say goodbye to him on his comfy bed and blanket surrounded by his family. I had never once seen a dog shed a tear…but my Pogi did…as if he knew what was coming, and was sharing all my feelings with me. Thank you Compassionate Care for helping us love and take care of Pogi for the last time.

What a difference Compassionate Care made on our incredibly difficult day. The vet who came to our house was so calming and informative. This experience was so much better than being in a vet’s office. I couldn’t recommend them more.

We are incredibly grateful to Dr. Paula Shover for the kindness and compassion she showed us during one of the most difficult moments of our lives. Her gentle and respectful manner brought comfort not only to us but also to our beloved dog. Dr. Shover took the time to explain everything with care and patience, and she allowed us the space we needed to say goodbye. Her presence made an unbearable time a little more bearable, and we will always remember her with heartfelt appreciation.

We are so grateful for the compassion and support we received yesterday from Dr. Choate. We needed to say goodbye to our sweet princess of a golden doodle. Though we knew it was time, Dr. Choate talked us through her observations and perspective in a way that truly helped us get to the right place. Zoe passed peacefully and quickly in her own bed, with us cradling her the entire time. Thank you, Casey!

For me, my pets are considered family. I put a lot of time and money trying to keep them happy and healthy. In early May, we had to put down our sick cat. We had very little time to prepare for her loss as her illness was diagnosed and advanced quickly. Our vet recommended Compassionate Care. Marie came to our house to help end our cat’s suffering. Marie was caring, compassionate, and professional. She explained everything so even our 11-year old daughter understood and became more comfortable with each step of the way. Marie was patient and let us take as much time as we needed. I would recommend her services to anyone who has a pet that is at the end of his/her life. She is truly compassionate as the name of her company states.

So thankful for a service like yours. My sweet elderly cat was having all sorts of issues and was terrified of car rides and vet offices. Your service allowed her to pass peacefully at home with her favorite blanket, smells and a lot of teary eyes on our end. Thank you for being so wonderful to us as a family as well. It wasn’t a decision we took lightly. The kind words from the doctor helped us with healing.

My beloved cat Sox, he told me it was his time and I promised him I would not deny him of that. On Saturday, March 8th, 2025, we knew that was the day. We spent all day cuddling him and holding him, and when the time came we called Compassionate Care and they sent the most lovely lady. I believe her name was Beth or Beck—I can’t remember—but she came into our home, walked up the stairs, and gave my darling angel the help he needed to cross the rainbow bridge. She was so gentle and sweet and soft spoken. When I asked if she could cut some of his fur, she happily obliged. Then when it was time to say goodbye, she allowed me to wrap him up in a blanket and allowed me to walk him out of my home and lay him in a basket. As I closed the door, she gave me a hug and my wife and I saw him off. While it was sad, it was beautiful. I know he was in the best of hands and I couldn’t be more grateful for how she handled it. He was my best friend and I can’t recommend them enough.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience during this most difficult time. The vet was extremely sensitive throughout the entire process and clearly communicated each step so that our pet was able to pass in peace, at home, and in our arms.

In Loving Memory of Chloe 2009 – 2025 With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our beloved Chloe, who brought 15 years of joy, love, and unwavering companionship to our family. From the moment she entered our lives, Chloe was more than just a pet—she was family, a best friend, and a source of endless happiness. Chloe had a spirit as big as the world she loved to explore. She never turned down a long walk, especially if it led her to the beach, where she could feel the sand beneath her paws and the water against her fur. She had a voice that couldn’t be ignored, letting the world know she was there with her proud, playful barks at every passerby. And when it came to treats, there was no snack too big or too small—she savored every bite with enthusiasm. But more than anything, Chloe loved us. She was always there, through every moment, sharing in our joys and comforting us in our sorrows. Her loyalty, warmth, and unconditional love will never be forgotten. Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we are grateful for every year, every adventure, and every precious moment we shared with her. Chloe, you will always be missed, but never forgotten. Run free, sweet girl, and know that you are loved forever.

What a wonderful service. And what a wonderful surprise it was to open the door and find Dr. Trish, who was our beloved Abby’s regular vet, standing there. Dr. Trish was incredibly kind and thorough, explaining the procedure and confirming to us that the time was right to let go. She made what was a truly difficult time that much more bearable and peaceful, and that was so much appreciated. We have, and will continue to recommend Compassionate Care to our friends. I’m not a reviewer, but this is a special exception. My cat of 17 years, Max, passed away 1/11/2025 at the hands of the wonderful Dr. Josie Gold, DVM. She was incredible. Completely compassionate and wonderful to us and to Max, along with our other animals. She got the paperwork out of the way first so we could focus solely on Max and saying our goodbyes. I am so grateful Dr. Gold was able to give Max the rest he needed in the best way possible. She was there for not only Max, but for my mom and me as he passed. I cannot think of a better way to have sent Max off to Cat Heaven. I already miss him so much, but I know he’s in a better place and I have Dr. Gold to thank. Compassionate Care really is amazing. This was the first time I’ve ever experienced putting a pet to rest. It was heartbreaking and beautiful as he peacefully went. Thank you, thank you SO MUCH Dr. Josie Gold. AND to Stacy and Nina, who helped guide me through the appointment making process.

Just two days after Christmas, our Golden Retriever Maverick lost his battle with lymphoma. We were able to get an almost immediate response from Compassionate Care. Dr. Roisum arrived at our home, and we felt immediate relief. She quickly let us know what was about to happen, with just the right combination of information, and empathy, which gave us great comfort. In minutes, Maverick was free of his pain, free to roam again, healthy and happy in doggie heaven! We highly recommend Compassionate Care.

From start to finish, it was the best experience we could have asked for, given the circumstances. I received a quick, compassionate response to my website inquiry and was able to make an appointment on the day and time we requested. The doctor is so kind. She talked with us about our dog’s health condition and put my mind at ease that we were making the right decision. She talked us through the euthanasia options and let us decide what we thought would be best for our girl. Our hearts are broken, but I could not have asked for a better way to say goodbye. We had Dr. Deborah come out yesterday to put down our very old LGD, Stevie. Dr. Deborah was the most kind, compassionate doctor I have ever come across in my life. She was patient, calm, explained what was needed and loving throughout the entire process. There isn’t a human more made for what she does. She is certainly living out her purpose in life. I am so incredibly thankful I found Compassionate Care. Even the customer service representatives I talked to beforehand were absolutely wonderful. They were gentle, kind and understanding. They helped me make the decisions with thoughtfulness and grace. What a wonderful service Compassionate Care provides! When the time comes, I will absolutely use Compassionate Care again. Thanksgiving morning 2024 our sweet baby Brooke (black lab retriever) woke up unable to move her hind quarters. She was 13 1/2 and was starting to show signs that the end was near. Being that it was a holiday we were afraid we would have to wait to find somebody to help her over the rainbow bridge. I called Compassionate Care, a live person answered the phone and set up an appointment that would take place in a few hours. We didn’t need to worry about transporting her anywhere; Jessica from Compassionate Care arrived at the scheduled time. With compassion and care she helped us with one of the hardest days of our lives. Brooke passed pain-free. Jessica remained with us as we told stories of our beloved fur baby, plus many stories of our other fur babies that had gone over the rainbow bridge before. Thank you Jessica for all you did for us. I would highly recommend Compassionate Care for in-home end-of-life services. Thank you again for the love and care that you gave our fur baby. Meg McNabb was the vet who came to our home and she was excellent. She was very sympathetic and kind and even though it was one of the worst nights of my life, it was very comfortable having her there. She seemed like family.

We are grateful to Dr. Marie Worobets for helping us through the loss of our wonderful cat Skorri. She was kind, patient, and did a lot to help us get through a difficult but necessary good-bye.

Although this has been a difficult week, we were both so thankful that you were the one to take care of Buster. We were very appreciative of your kindness and gentleness toward our boy. Thank you Lori for making our final memories peaceful for all of us. I will let all my pet loving friends know that they should consider calling you, if they are in a position like ours.

You have touched our hearts forever. I will remember you always. Jim and I are so very grateful for your loving and compassionate caring for (not only) Spirit, but also for us. You took your time, you explained the medical procedures, you allowed us to take it all slowly, moment-to-moment…It has been my great pleasure to call DoveLewis and Dr. Scott Davis and friends and sing your praises.

I just wanted to thank you for making Sage’s last moments so peaceful.  As you can imagine it’s been a hard week for Bruce and I.  We brought her ashes home on Tuesday with the paw print, which oddly gave me a sense of peace to know she’s back home with us.  In the paw print you can even see evidence of her fuzzy toes, a part of her we always loved.

Sami and I were deeply appreciative of your compassionate and caring attention to Pepper’s final need.  Your kindness, willingness to talk, and clear support of a “proceed at your speed” approach to ending our beloved Pepper’s life was deeply comforting to each of us.  We will never forget your kindness on this terrible, wrenching day.  Should any friends or family members find themselves to be in a similar circumstance we will not hesitate to wholeheartedly recommend you.

I want to thank you again for your services on Saturday 5/29 for my 17 yr old beloved cat Miles.  Your calm and gentle manner and kindness were most appreciated.  Your explanations helped enormously. The time you spent was so personal and exactly what I wanted to have happen when the time came to say good bye to my buddy.

From the moment I made the first call to you with all my questions you made me feel very comfortable, Greg or I had never had to deal with a death of a pet before and we really had no idea what to do or what to expect, but you made it so simple for us and handled all the details for the cremation which we were both so grateful for!  The best thing though was that you came to Bailey, I could not think of anything better for Bailey then for him to be at home with Greg and I by his side for the end of his life on earth.

The article in the paper today reminded me that I never sent you a follow up note to let you know how pleased we were with your services. I had always hoped to find someone who would come to our home when the time was right to put Simon down, but you exceeded my expectations. It was the most peaceful thing I could have imagined for him and we have told many people about it. Seeing that you received some recognition in the Oregonian for the challenging but important work you do made me both cry and smile. You can always use us as a reference if you need to. We have already referred people to you and will continue to do so.

I just read an article in the Oregonian today about your and your services. It reminded me when you helped give our Buffy girl a peaceful, humane and loving death at home in April surrounded by the family she so unconditionally loved and protected for 15 years. I cannot thank you enough nor tell enough people about your services. I just wanted you to know that we believe what you do for pets and their owners is so incredible and professional and kind and very, very important. Thank you.

I talked to four other vets prior to calling you, and you were the only one who came forward and showed compassion and professionalism all in one breath. I got the sense from the get-go that this isn’t just a means of a living for you, but a calling. I think of you as a pet soul transition midwife, someone who facilitates and guides families through the transition of their loved ones from this world. I can’t think of a better guide for my Bodhi than you and feel very certain about this aspect of his leaving…no doubt in my mind whatsoever. Thank you for that little bit of peace around this very difficult decision.

Since you were here in mid-September, scarcely an hour has gone by in which I did not want to stop and write to thank you for the most kind and gracious care you gave our dog Molly.  Your warm and caring assist to her, so she could take the final step in her fight with cancer and start her journey to the Rainbow Bridge, will always be remembered and appreciated by Nancy and myself.  I try to avoid imposing on people, but on that morning I did press you by e-mail and telephone for expeditious help, when it became clear to us that Molly had no hope of return to her comfortable, even if limited, lifestyle here with us.  You responded so quickly and warmly to our call for help that early morning.  I will be forever grateful for that.

From the first time I emailed you a little over a month ago I knew that I would use Compassionate Care services when it became time to let my beloved pet pass on to his next life. You promptly emailed me back and even called and it was about 1:30 in the morning. When I let you know that I was disabled and no longer drove you even offered to return UB’s ashes to me if I couldn’t make other arrangements. That showed me that you not only cared about my pet but, you also cared about me as well.

Just a quick note of thanks for your company’s professionalism and kindness.  Yesterday evening Dr. Elaine Stephens came to my Mom’s home and put my cat, Bear, to sleep.  From my initial phone call with Dr. Andrea La Raus, to the moment Dr. Stephens left my mom’s home with Bear, I was so pleased and impressed with all aspects of your company’s service.  Dr. Andrea was so kind, and so professional over the phone, she made me feel very confident in your business even though I knew nothing about it.  Dr. Stephens was simply amazing.

I really wanted to tell you how much I appreciated your humane services. Like most animals, Charlotte was not a big fan of going to the vet, and in making this very difficult decision, I took into account that she always soiled herself during those trips.  I didn’t want to do that to her in her final hours, and more importantly, didn’t want to stress her out by transporting her to an unfamiliar location that made her fearful.  Instead, she was able to be at home in a comfortable environment, which I think made the process and transition easier for both her and me.

Thank you so much for your compassionate care and professionalism in the way you took care of my dog Chance’s final moments. From the initial phone call, to the final moments with Chance, Dr. Elaine Stephens was wonderful!

I just wanted to say thank you to you and Melissa for helping us through a very tough time. It was very hard to say good-bye to Bling but he was ready to go. Melissa was so kind and gentle. I didn’t know what to expect but Bling really went in peace. We were able to keep him in his bed before the fireplace with us petting him the whole time. He purred the whole time till he fell into a peaceful sleep. Melissa is a very special person to be so compassionate. We appreciated her caring…thank you both once again for making a very hard process a little easier.

Rita Smith Once again your services helped me through the difficult process of saying goodbye to one of my beloved animals. I think anyone reading this page has a good sense of the depth of the emotions during this process and what it means to have the process go as peacefully as it possibly can. Although it was just excruciating to let my Nicki go, I have to say that Meg really did an exceptional job of making the entire process as good as it could possibly be.

Our sweet kitty, Jazzy, was nearing the end after a wonderful 18 year life and a short battle with lung cancer. We knew it was time and our regular vet was unavailable to come to our home to perform the euthanasia. I emailed Dr. Gibson, in Portland, at 11 pm on a Saturday night. She responded almost immediately. She was very comforting, even by email, and said she was able to send a vet out the following morning, even though it was Mother’s Day. Dr. Meg McNab arrived on time and even followed my directions to open the front door and come through the house to the bedroom, where I was comforting Jazzy. Meg explained the entire procedure and allowed me to take as much time as I needed.

I just wanted to say thank you to Dr. Becky for the help with our beloved Lyra last Sunday. It has been the hardest week of my life without my buddy…but she helped us to understand it was the right thing to do for her. She was compassionate and kind, and Lyra even gave us a few laughs on her way out of this world. I never thought I would ever have to do anything like this and I am extremely grateful we were able to say goodbye in the comfort of our own home, with the entire pack..she is greatly missed…but we thank you for your help in navigating this confusing time.

My husband and I want to thank Dr. Lori for her prompt visit and thoughtful service when our cat so desperately needed her help. Not having to drive him to a hospital and cause him and us all that stress in his last moments was a blessing. He peacefully went to sleep in my husband’s lap where he had spent hours of every day for the past 19 and a half years.

It’s been almost 24 hours since Jess departed, and I’ve already given your company’s name to several friends who will be facing that difficult decision in the months to come, and I will continue to sing your praises.  His dog groomer and I have become good friends and I’ll be sure to give your card to her so she can pass it along to her many clients who will eventually need your services.  As far as I’m concerned, the charges for your company’s wonderful services will be the best money I’ve ever spent, and I haven’t regretted my decision to use your services even for an instant. Thank you and Dr. Stephens for leaving me with special memories I’ll never forget for as long as I live.

When we had to make the heart wrenching decision to say goodbye to our beautiful little pug Thelma, and send her onto the next journey, we knew that she would become our guardian angel.  We had no idea that a living angel would be sent from Compassionate Care, it was you Amelie.

I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know how impressed my wife and I were with Dr. Lais who was at our home on March 2nd. She made a very difficult and painful situation as good as it could possibly be. Compassionate Care for both our dog as well as ourselves is exactly what we received. We realize that you perform a difficult task but we truly appreciate it. I have left a similar review on Angie’s List. Thank you again, Jessika.

I want to start off by saying that our 6yr old Great Dane Kita was our life. She grew up with our little ones and protected not only them but us too. We took her to the beach with us not knowing she was sick because our pet sitter had backed out. It was the best blessing ever. Because 9 days from the day we went to the beach our favorite girl would be gone.

We will never be able to give enough stars to this company. They accommodated us twice in moving our appointment to an earlier date and time, without any hesitation. Everyone we spoke with was kind and considerate. They could not have sent a better Vet to our house. Dr. Meg McNabb was compassionate, caring, understanding, and absolutely amazing helping us get through the loss of our beloved Oscar….thank you Meg!!

Enormous gratitude for Dr. Wong. She came in the night and was kind, gentle, and conscientious. Our beloved Dobby was always terrified of being handled by veterinarians, and Dr. Wong was so unobtrusive and thoughtful in her approach that I don't think Dobby even knew she was there. She helped Dobby pass in the most natural way possible, and we will be forever grateful.

The professional and caring team at Compassionate Care made a very sad circumstance better. They provided a peaceful end to our beloved Finn in our home. Beth P., DVM provided a sense of calm, dignity, respect, and efficiency...
