Silver was adopted when she was about 2.5 years old from the Oregon Humane Society through their Second Chance Program in the summer of 2012.
Sisters Lena and Michelle were looking to add a new member to their family after losing both parents within a short period of time in their young adult lives. Seeing Silver’s photo on the OHS website, they felt an instant connection and knew they wanted her. Meeting her in person solidified that decision.
As owners, they made sure to give Silver all the care and love she deserved. In return, Silver was the best dog in showing them love. She integrated easily into her new life, enjoying long walks, being spoiled with treats, and savoring the simple things in life with her new owners. Over time, her silliness and playfulness emerged, such as showing her little teeth when smiling! Her personality was described as that of a polite old lady simply enjoying life.
Silver witnessed many lifetime memories being made. She met her first dad (Lena’s partner), met their child and even a new doggy brother. Later, she met her second dad (Michelle’s partner) and lived with them. Silver had a big family who loved her dearly, forming unique relationships with each one of them. She had her favorite humans for playtime, treats, naps, and experiencing the rest of the world.
Silver was a very sweet and quiet dog. In her later years, she enjoyed simple pleasures like napping, cuddling on the couch, and sunbathing. When her kidneys began failing, she fought hard to stay strong, but her family knew it was time for her to cross the rainbow bridge when she stopped enjoying her usual activities.
We honor Silver’s full life by remembering to always be kind, patient, and to enjoy the small things in life.
We love you, Silver, and you’ll always be in our hearts.
