In Memory of Abel

08-05-2014 to 05-15-2026

Abel was just a 15 lb meatball when we met him. He was wild, with puppy teeth like razors. We named him after a song by my favorite band, and we loved him hard. He was 10 months old when Austin died, and while I wasn’t ready for a puppy on my own, taking care of him anchored me in those first years of grief.

I’m grateful for the nearly 12 years we took care of each other. Grateful for the trail runs and neighborhood walks. For the road trips and dog park visits. For the hugs and demand barking. Time keeps on going and loving Abel will always be a part of my story.

Run free love. I hope you find Austin and Buckley. 💙💙💙
